Mohr is a graduate of the Bachelor in Science with an audiology major from Georgia's University of Georgia. Mohr was a student at The University of St. Thomas situated near Houston Texas. Mohr completed her Bachelor of Arts in broadcast meteorology from the University of Georgia in 1989. On the recommendation by a fellow UGA students, Mohr started working in the glamorous industry at age 24. She was a contestant for Miss Columbus in Miss Columbus, 1985. She won it by kissing and defeating each competitor. Her victory qualified her to compete at Miss Georgia. Miss Georgia contest in June 1985. On June 22 in 1985, she was also crowned the contest. In September of 1985, Mohr represented Georgia in Georgia's participation in Miss America 1986 Pageant held in Atlantic City (New Jersey) after her victory. In spite of her success Mohr did not finish within the Top 10 to win the national title.
